Whickham Golf Club Course Etiquette

  • Dress regulations must be adhered to.
  • Slow play must be avoided – target time per round (3 ball singles or 4 ball better-ball) is 4 hours.
  • Please ensure that all bunkers are raked and the rake left inside the bunker.
  • Please replace all divots and repair pitch marks on the greens.
  • Please follow the designated signs when using a trolley or ride-on buggy. Avoid crossing white lines, tee-boxes and greens.

Whickham Golf Club Dress Code

In the Clubhouse and on the Course:

The following are ACCEPTABLE:

  • Golf shoes must be worn on the Course; trainers are not permitted (children under the age of 12 are exempt).
  • Smart, casual shirts with collar. Polo or Turtle neck collar.
  • Golf tops must remain tucked into trousers/skirts both on the Course and in the Clubhouse.
  • Smart Denim Jeans in the Clubhouse.
  • Tailored dress shirts/blouses can be worn outside trousers /skirts in the Clubhouse.
  • Ladies golf-specific waist length tops or welted/blouson style tops, both with attached collar.
  • Tailored knee length or three quarter length cropped tailored shorts with sports socks.

The following are NOT ACCEPTABLE:
  • Denim jeans or Leggings on the Course.
  • Tee shirts, track-suits, shell suits, football / rugby shirts.
  • Shorts such as boxer, running, swimming, cycling and football shorts.
  • Combat Trousers/Shorts.
  • Trousers/Shorts with drawstring waists or legs.
  • Trousers tucked into socks
  • Golf shoes of any kind, spiked or dimpled may be worn in the Clubhouse.
  • Wearing of caps/hats in the Clubhouse.

N.B. It is permissible for tailored dress shirts/blouses to be worn outside trousers/skirts in the Clubhouse. However, golf shirts/blouses must remain tucked into trousers/skirts both on the Course and in the Clubhouse.

The Club will apply a common sense approach to breaches of these rules however persistent offenders may be asked to leave the Course and Clubhouse.

Please note that staff are authorised to approach members and visitors to enforce the above if these dress regulations and rules are not being respected.

SMOKING

Whickham Golf Club operates a non smoking policy throughout the whole Clubhouse. Smoking is permitted outside the Clubhouse.

Please extinguish cigarette/cigar butts when finished and deposit them in the receptacles provided.

MOBILE PHONES & ELECTRONIC DEVICES

The use of Mobile Telephones on the Course is only permitted in the event of an emergency. Phones Laptops, Notebooks and Tablets may be used considerately in the Clubhouse using the club’s Free Wi-Fi.

Mobile Telephones can be used in the Clubhouse to receive telephone calls and text messages. However, out of courtesy to others, all members/visitors who wish to have a mobile voice conversation should move to the Club Foyer or to the outside of the building.

Your co-operation will be appreciated.
